NGO "International Organization of Internally Displaced Persons with disabilities"

Svetlana-told the story of the evacuation of a specialized school from the city of Kremennaya, where about a hundred children with special needs studied at the time of the war.

“This evacuation, it was a real hell,” Svetlana recalls.
The vast majority of parents of students of her school, at that time, were already in the occupied territory, so they did not have the opportunity to pick up their children from school. It was also very difficult to evacuate orphans and children deprived of parental care. In the stuffiness of the bomb shelter and almost without water, the children waited for evacuation for almost a day. When the evacuation train arrived, the children had the opportunity to sleep on the floor or eight people in one seat for two days while traveling to the city of Lviv. Children fainted from suffocation, many had nosebleeds, there was nothing to eat, because no one knew that the journey would take so long.

Currently, the children are in the Lviv region, in the educational and Rehabilitation Center “Harmony”. But they really miss their school in Kremennaya and their teachers. Svetlana regrets that many highly professional teachers at her school have been out of work for two years. After all, they are real experts in their field, and could help children with disabilities develop and learn. Now they work with evacuated children for charity.

Svetlana from the city of Korosten also shared her story of evacuation in the first days of a full-scale invasion. She is a representative of a public organization that deals with the rehabilitation of young people with disabilities who have already graduated from school.

Now the Organization of Ms. Svetlana is looking for a room for its classes, because young people with the status of IDPs are becoming more involved.
