On the fifth working day of the Riga Academy, we discussed the problems of employment of people with disabilities and the role of the state in this process. The question arises: what is better – to provide opportunities to work on the open labour market or to create specialised enterprises, as is still the case in many regions of Ukraine?
In the morning, Imants Lipskis, Director of the Labour Market Policy Department of the Ministry of Welfare, met our guests from Ukraine. He shared information about the employment support system for people with disabilities in Latvia and presented the work of the State Employment Agency. The theoretical part was followed by an excursion to the cooperation partners – RIMI Latvia.
