The Association of Working Samaritans of Germany (ASB) has been implementing humanitarian response measures in Ukraine since 2014. During 2014-2018, project activities for internally displaced persons were carried out in close cooperation with ASB’s local partner – the Union of Samaritans of Ukraine (SSU). In 2018-2019, ASB provided humanitarian aid to the conflict-affected population in a 5-kilometer zone from the demarcation line (government-controlled territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions) in partnership with ACTED and SSU. Since June 2019, ASB has been carrying out humanitarian activities in the conflict zone both directly and through its local partner, SSU. Project activities are financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
ASB_de: “Two years of emergency aid to Ukraine – We stand firmly by Ukraine’s side!
The ASB has been active along the contact line in Ukraine since 2015. Immediately after Russia’s 2022 invasion, the ASB expanded its support throughout Ukraine.
In 2023 alone, we were able to help more than 250,000 people with our local partner, the Ukrainian Samaritan Association (@ssu_kyiv). In addition to the distribution of food and hygiene packages and financial support for the purchase of fuel, traumatized Ukrainians in particular are cared for in social centers, schools and, for people with limited mobility, also at home.
Russian missiles strike many regions of the country almost every day. The capital Kyiv in particular is regularly shelled. Together with the Ukrainian Samaritan Union (SSU), two heating points were operated for the population. Here people can seek refuge, eat a hot meal and charge electronic devices if their homes are damaged or completely destroyed by the attacks.
Our message as ASB is clear: we stand firmly with Ukraine. We will help with emergency aid projects as long as Russia does not end this brutal war. And we will continue to help wherever it is needed. This is our promise to Ukraine!
With your donation we have already been able to help many people in Ukraine, thank you for that! Please continue to support our work in Ukraine with a donation: https://www.asb.de/spenden-stiften/online-spenden“
